In the spring of 2006, Jenny 'Jarz' Rainwater sparked the idea for a women's rugby team at Georgia Tech. The GTWRFC started as a club sport the following fall. We are now in our seventh season as an official team and currently compete as a Division I team in USA Rugby South.

Collegiate women's rugby is played for both fall and the spring semesters. The fall season consists of friendly games against regional teams to prepare for the matrix season in the spring. Conference games are scheduled during the spring and and are followed by playoffs in April.
